Volunteer Fire Department Services
If your volunteer fire department is in need of new apparatus, equipment, or training funding, we may be able to help you through leasing agreements, federal grants, state grants, or fund-raising campaigns. Our comprehensive approach is also unique in that we do not charge you any costs or fees up front and we work diligently to make sure we can obtain the funding, grants and donations to help you not only pay for our services, but to comply with the requirements of some grants, such as the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) regulations to have the grantee contribute with non-federal matching funds of 10% for service populations less than 50,000. § 152.4 Roles and responsibilities. Now, do you wish to decode, decipher and deal with all of this, or would your rather VFD-Funding do it? As an example an AFG grant might be for a new pumper, which would be under the $750,000 limit for any given funding year. However, this would require your company to come up with $35,000 - $50,000 toward the purchase of this pumper. In this case we would attempt to get you a tax-exempt lease of the equipment and combine with it other sources of funding. Per the grant application, you can add the cost of grant preparation, grant administration and the costs of filing the audit of the grant with the OMB, as is required, to the budget of the grant. In addition to obtaining a tax-exempt lease agreement, we can finance our services and administrative fees for you, thus meeting the terms of the law and ethical conduct. In financing our fees, we only charge 3% - 5%) interest. We do similarly when obtaining the tax-exempt lease of apparatus and equipment purchases for you. With the lease agreements, here again there are NO up front costs or fees paid by your volunteer fire department, until after the lease is secured and in many cases our fees can be part of the lease agreement, if we already haven't financed them for you. Our fees are only one percent (1%), which are added to the purchase price of the apparatus or equipment, when purchased from one of our preferred vendors, who are selling their products to our clients at a discount in the first place. Thus, it costs you less to have us do the paperwork and obtain the funding, rather than if you tried to do it yourself! We can also help you increase your donations by assisting you in establishing VISA/MC merchant accounts, so that you can take credit card donations and on-line donations, while the receipt for your tax-deductible donation appears on your donor's credit card statement. Many donate more when they can write a check or put it on their credit card, therefore these funds can then be used by you to upgrade your computers, e-commerce, general web presence or any other need you may have for these funds. At VFD-Funding, we help you with your state grants, whether or not you use them to apply to meet the 10% requirements if you would wish to pursue an AFG grant. Even if your volunteer fire department receives some grants from your state, we will work with you to attempt to increase these and help you to better manage these resources. Each volunteer fire department has their own needs and we all know these can change from year to year, thus we work with you, your elected officers and members to come up with the best combinations and plans to meet the needs of your department and the communities you serve. We also work with the municipalities elected officials, given that in many circumstances they are the political entities that must be involved in the funding process and usually are those who have purchased the apparatus and equipment. Because we are outreaching to so many volunteer fire departments, we may be able to help you to sell apparatus that may no longer suit your needs, but with refurbishing, if necessary, would dramatically meet the needs of smaller or more rural communities, where the apparatus would not have as much regular demand and therefore would have a longer period of active life use.
