About Clarendon Volunteer Fire Dept.:
Established in 1906, Clarendon Volunteer Fire Dept. proudly protects approximately 3,500 people living in an area of 900 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a non paid all volunteer department whose members are on a volunteer status. Our department has 36 members, Dive Team that responds to Greenbelt Lake with 5 certified divers, 2 rescue trucks, 2 quick attack trucks, 2 pumpers, 6 grass trucks, & 3 tankers. We have 3 generation firefighters, 2 generation, and several brothers, on our department. 3 of our members have received 50 year recognition, and several have achieved lifetime membership status. Several members are certified at various levels through the State Firemen's & Fire Marshals' Association of Texas. The pride of the department is a 1927 Seagraves Pumper which the department purchased new, and which is still operational, although only used for parades and like events. Our EMS is separate from the Fire Department but they run an ALS service responding to 600- 700 calls a year. There are two other Departments in the County, Howardwick which is located 7 miles north of Clarendon on Greenbelt Lake, and Hedley, 15 miles southeast, located near the furtherest SE point in the County.
